When is the best time to buy a phone in India?

By Tuvvo team · Published 25 October 2026 · 2 min read

Phone prices in India move a lot through the year. Buying at the right moment can save you thousands, but waiting too long can cost you more than it saves. Here is how to time it.

Sale seasons

The biggest discounts usually come in the big online sales: the festive sales around Dussehra and Diwali, Republic Day sales in January, and the Independence Day sales in August. Many of these prices need a bank card offer, so the price you pay depends on which card you have.

After a new model launches

When a brand launches a new model, the older one often gets cheaper as shops clear stock. That is a good time to buy last year's model, which usually has most of the same features. Follow upcoming phones in India and their launch dates, every phone launched in India in 2026 and our latest phone news to see what is coming.

Check the update promise first, because an older model has fewer years of updates left. Our explainer on how many years of updates a phone needs shows how to count them.

When waiting does not pay

If your phone is broken or no longer gets security patches, do not wait months for a sale. A small saving rarely makes up for months with a phone you cannot trust for payments. Our repair cost calculator helps you decide whether fixing the old one is worth it.

Check the real price, not the offer

  • Bank offers often need one bank's card, or only work on EMI.
  • No cost EMI can come with a processing fee, so work out the full amount with our EMI true-cost calculator.
  • Exchange offers depend on your old phone's condition. Check its resale value first, so you know if the exchange price is fair.

Every Tuvvo phone page shows how its price has moved since launch, so you can see whether a sale price is really lower. Compare all phone prices and specs, or start with the best phones in India for every budget.

Before you pay, go through our phone buying checklist: IMEI, warranty and return rules.
